MAHINDRA XYLO
Mahindra
Xylo was a compact mpv launched by
Indian Automobile manufacturer Mahindra.
Mahindra Xylo is the cheapest family 7 and 8 seater mpv of it’s time which was so spacious and so comfortable.
Mahindra Xylo was launched in 2009 and it got it’s
first facelift in 2012 and then some minor cosmetic changes in 2015. It
discontinued in 2019 june due to BS-6 emission and Replaced by Mahindra
Marrazo.
Engine :- It used to come with Two diesel
engines. One was Naturally aspirated engine and other was turbocharged engine.
ENGINE |
POWER |
TORQUE |
2.2L mHawk |
122PS |
280NM |
2.5L CRDe |
95PS |
220NM |
Both Engines weren’t Refined and you can easily hear engine noise inside the cabin and the gearbox vibrates and steering wheel too. 2.2L mHawk engine is the one you should go with because it’s a tested engine and it’s very reliable and maintenance cost is low too.
2.5L cRDE engine produces less power
due to that it feels slower and loud to. Both engines delivers fuel economy of
12-15KMPL overall.
Exterior :- Mahindra xylo looks boxy and tall. There is no concept of Aerodynamics in Mahindra Xylo. The car looks big and long for a compact mpv. Headlights and taillights are big in size and all use halogen bulbs.
There is very less boot if you use all seats but if you fold
last row then you get around 400 litres of boot size but the loading hip is
high and it’s not easy to enter the car. Overall it’s a Average looking MPV.
Interior :- Mahindra Xylo is known for only one thing which is space. it’s cabin is so spacious even in the last row there is so leg space. Front seats can be adjusted the seats are comfortable for short rides. There is one dim music system.
Door pockets can hold 1L bottle. The
steering can be adjusted. There is no luxury feel inside the car and you can’t
expect it too at this price. Overall interior of the car is Average and cabin
Is so spacious.
Drivability
:- Mahindra Xylo Is a
long car but It’s easy to drive because you can easily see hood of the car and
viewing angles are good too. It’s a tall car so it’s easy to drive in city but
on highways car doesn’t feel stable and you need to be careful while cornering
in a big car like this. There is tons of body roll. The car comes with 5 speed
manual transmission and there is no option for Automatic transmission, Throws
of manual transmission are long and gearbox feels like there’s a chewing gum
inside it. If you drive with full load then it feels more stable and can be
driven fast. The steering doesn’t give confidence and due to small wheels the
car isn’t good for high speed. The gearbox shakes and vibrates and the steering
wheel vibrates too. There is only two airbags And Abs with EBD. Overall, it’s a
good car for a family but if you drive it below speed limits.
Positives :-
Cabin Is so spacious,
Low price of the car, cheapest mpv.
Negatives :-
So much body roll,
Engine noise comes inside cabin, cabin rattles, hard suspension , unstable at
high speed.
